I've said it before and I'll say it again - adult content CAN have a place in video games…However, if you’re a developer, you need to make sure that you focus more on developing a fun game with good mechanics, than focus on adding boobs and such or you're gonna end up making make a turd salad that nobody's gonna want. Sex is a turd salad. Feel free to take that quote out of context if you'd like. Anyway, Sex is a "game" where you watch five poor videos with the mind-blowing ability to pause and skip forward while you watch chopped-up videos with the audio replaced by cheesy saxophone music. Well, it may have been mind blowing to be able to control video like that in your home back in the late 70s when VHS and Beta started getting popular and you had a fancy remote control that could do those functions (plus more)…but by the mid-90’s, when this was released, buying a “game” where you’re just watching videos with fewer options to interact with the video than a standard VCR….well, let’s just say that even if the content of the game was Citizen Kane, this would be a disappointing experience. If you have any sort of media player, physical or digital, do yourself a favor. Ignore this turd salad and instead watch something worthwhile on whatever player you’ve got. If you must keep a fecal theme going, to go along with the turd salad, then watch Monsturd…the film about a poop monster will most likely entertain you far, far longer than this game would.

Shanghai is the kind of mahjong that I like playing…basically, a bunch of tiles are piled up in different patterns for each level. Your goal is to match the tiles to make them disappear. The catch is that you can only move tiles that are on the top, or on the left or right side, as long as the tiles on the left or right side are clear of any tiles above them. The end result is kind of like playing a game of solitaire with a deck of playing cards - due to the luck of the draw, sometimes it's just not possible to clear the screen. You'll play for a while, think you're doing good…then find out that you've run out of possible moves and have to start over. Eventually, though, just like solitaire, if you keep playing, eventually you'll get the right deal to make it all work. The arcade mode of this game adds a time limit to the puzzle, as well as a variety of different tile formations for you to work with. Shanghai: Triple Threat probably isn't for everyone, but I've always found it to be a guilty pleasure of mine that I pop in and play every now and then when I just want to relax and clear my mind. If you're a fan of this style of mahjong like I am, then you'll probably find some enjoyment here, too.

If you loved Street Fighter II, this game alone was worth buying the 3DO for. Even if you didn’t play a single other game on the console. This was the definitive Street Fighter II game released in North America, with Akuma as an unlockable boss fight and tweaks and refinements to the combat to improve on a formula that had already seemed perfect. I don’t think that there is another game in the various versions of Street Fighter II, that were released on console, that were quite as good as this one. Which makes it a head-scratcher why Capcom didn’t also release it on more successful consoles like the Playstation and/or the Saturn. The gameplay is tweaked to near-perfection, the audio and visuals were the best in the series up to that point without visiting an arcade…it’s just an incredible game for its time. In my opinion, it is the best console variation of a game with “Street Fighter II” in the name that was released in the West, and an argument could easily be made about this being the best game in the Street Fighter franchise period. The best part? It hasn’t aged one bit over the last 25 years since it was released. It still plays silky smooth, and it still manages to suck hours away from my life like the little time vampire it is. In my opinion, it’s the best game on the 3DO, and one of the best games of all-time, regardless of console.
