I first became aware of Kero Kero Keroppi last year when I stumbled across an import game for the Famicom. I thought it was likely aimed towards young children, but I didn't realize that the cute frog wasn’t a character made specifically for the game. Instead, Kero Kero Keroppi (or just Keroppi) is actually a Hello Kitty character…and a pretty popular one, it seems. Anyway, due to his popularity, Keroppi's video game exploits weren't exclusive to the Famicom. He also got games on other consoles, like this game on the 3DO…though it's not really much of a game in the traditional sense. Basically, if you want to learn how to make various origami objects, this game steps you through it, while also providing some animation and voice-acting to keep things interesting between making origami sumo wrestlers and seals in the real world, following along with the on-screen instructions. As a game, it's hard for me to justify a score too much higher than what I've given it….but it does a pretty good job of explaining what to do to make the various origami shapes shown in the game. So, as an origami instruction manual, it does a good job. That said, if you want to make an origami fish to show off to your friends, then Kero Kero Keroppi to Origami no Tabibito can help you. If you just want to play a video game and avoid the risk of a paper cut, then you may be disappointed here.

When I played Killing Time prior to writing this, in order to nab some screenshots, it was one of those rare games that was quite a bit better than I remembered it being. Maybe its because I’m more fond of first-person shooters now than I was back when I first popped this game in, but I didn’t dislike this at all this go-around. Usually, it winds up being the opposite – a game I love either ages badly or simply wasn’t as good as I remember it being…but Killing Time didn’t age too terribly at all, honestly. Graphically, it looks much more beautiful than I remember with environments that looked amazing for its time and some neat video clips of people cut in as ghosts. Gameplay-wise, it's not too shabby either. While I’ve grown more fond of first-person shooters over the years, I’ll also admit that I often find them to be tedious. Especially many of the older games in the genre. However, Killing Time is one of those rare exceptions for me, thanks in part to the interesting story the game tells that helps keep you motivated to continue playing. Killing Time is a great game for killing time....See what I did there? I'm a clever fellow.
