18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker is kinda like the love child of OutRun and Crazy Taxi, but it’s not as fun as either one. It plays like a less enjoyable OutRun and has the presentation of a less engaging Crazy Taxi. Basically, you drive a semi-truck, hauling various items like vehicles, logs, or just a trailer. You need to not only make it to checkpoints before time runs out, but also try to beat rival semi drivers to the finish line while plowing into special vehicles that give you bonus time. It sounds exciting, but unfortunately, you’re still driving a slow, plodding semi-truck, so the end result is pretty slow-paced racing, and the novelty wears off fairly quickly. The game also features bonus rounds of exciting action like...parking. There is some fun to be had with 18 Wheeler, but unfortunately, the fun only lasts about as many minutes as the trucks in this game have wheels.
