Volleyball!

Volleyball! is one of the more underrated games that I think I've played. I feel like it's a unique game that's fun to play when you know what you're doing, but it's also almost equally fun to play when you're playing against a friend and you both have absolutely no idea what you're doing. The concept of Volleyball is that you've got a wall in the middle of the screen, with a gap at the top. The goal is to get the ball into that gap and over to the side of your opponents, and hopefully down to the bottom of the screen on their side to score. The concept sounds simple…but the developers threw a monkey wrench in all of that to make this game both entertaining and frustrating at the same time. That monkey wrench is that you control six players at once…and until you really get the hang of how to control your team, it can be a nightmare to get the ball over the net without scoring on yourself and handing your opponent a point…and if playing a two-player game, it's good entertainment for the other person to watch you struggle. However, once you get the hang of everything, and start implementing the "spike" move, Volleyball is actually a pretty entertaining game…and the computer-controlled team in a single player game has some skill to keep things interesting…but even the computer-controlled team isn't above scoring on themselves every now and then. Volleyball! isn't necessarily a must-buy title, and it takes some time to really get the hang of how to play, but if you're willing to put some time into it (and ideally get some laughs with a friend along the way) you'll likely find that Volleyball! is a nice, entertaining game for your Odyssey 2.
